Wildlife Discovery Day – BioBlitz 2017

Become a wildlife explorer with us!

Join and help us on our quest to find, identify and record as many species of birds, bugs, plants and beasties as we can in a 24 hour period. All the documented species that you find will be registered with Warwickshire Biological Record Centre!

Don’t worry if you don’t know any species, there will be lots of experts there to tell you what you’ve found on the day! This is your chance to give it a go and learn something new, as well as helping your local wildlife database to grow.

Once you’ve collected and handed in your findings, take a nice stroll on one of the many guided walks taking place throughout the day. Enjoy a walk and talk on bugs, moths, birds, bats, mammals, the community wetland area and plants!

Also, get to know experts from all fields of wildlife identification, such as artist, naturalist, photographer and author Steven Falk.

For who? This event is perfect for people who are looking to expand their knowledge and learn a little bit more about wildlife. This is also a great event for enthusiasts who have lots of experience and can help us identify! Families are welcome, we’d love to see more children getting involved with their local environment – toilet facilities are available (5 min walk) from the event, at Far Leys Car Park.

*Important Notice*

This is a FAMILY FRIENDLY event. Some activity areas may be unsuitable for pushchairs due to uneven grassy surface. Under 18’s must be accompanied by a parent/guardian.

This event is FREE but car park charges apply if you are parking at the Water Park (£4.50 peak time, £3.00 off peak). There is a FREE car park area in Kingsbury Village, down Pear Tree Avenue. Note the Village Fete is also on so parking space may be limited.  Please also note that early Saturday morning the park will be VERY busy at the entrance due to Park Run event.

To enjoy your wildlife discovery experience, please prepare for a day outdoors.  We recommend using bug spray as biting insects are present, take hay fever medication if you suffer with allergies, use suncream, wear a sunhat and keep hydrated.

The more people who come a long, the more records we can create. Our goal is 300, so come and help us reach it!
